Locations

The North East of Holland is one of the few locations in our country that is relatively untouched by infrastructure or the heritage industry. Dan refers to this habitat as being comparable with The Hague School of Dutch landscape painting that has in places been drawn over with an industrial marker pen. The export of Dan’s perspective on Dutchness is very important to this project.

In Thailand we want to exploit the exotic romanticism of an Asian landscape whilst showing its susceptability and vulnerability to change in an era of social and economic progress. We are looking for locations that will render Edwin’s opinions impotent and naive. The house and lush garden should be above his status and sometimes reduce him to a marble in a wonderfully ornate box.

Both of the main locations in Thailand and Holland are as much metaphors as characters in this story and we intend them to be representative exports of their inherent cultures.
